CUSTOM FRAMESHOP | HARDWOOD, EXHIBITION-STYLE FRAMES

We provide a framing service to customers purchasing prints from our printshop. By operating from a private,
appointment-only space, bulk purchasing, and using assembly line production methods, we keep the typically high cost of quality framing affordable. We provide several options, but stay within the realm of gallery style, museum quality work.
All of our framestock is milled by Kestner Wood Products (kestnerwood.com) from local Pennsylvania timber. We chop and join all of the frames on site, then finish each frame individually to ensure the highest quality. If you like our style of frame, you will not find better quality for the price.

OUR HARDWOOD FRAMES: Cherry, Hickory*, Red Elm*, Oak, Maple, Black Laquer, White Lacquer, and Walnut.
*Red Elm and Hickory available only by special order.
PRICELIST

We offer two styles of custom-built, hardwood frames for our prints: with SPACERS or TRADITIONALLY MATTED.
Below is a chart of rates for our regularly stocked hardwood options by PRINT GROUP (A,B,C,D,E). Print titles
can be found listed by PRINT GROUP beneath the chart. An explanation of each style follows as well.
All framed prints that require shipping will have Plexiglas instead of glass to ensure safe delivery.
Plexiglass is lighter weight and more UV protective than regular glass, but it will scratch. To clean Plexiglass, use a cloth with non-abrasive cleaner. Never use paper products to clean Plexiglass.

FRAME STYLE: SPACERS
This contemporary style frame is easily compared to a very shallow shadowbox. Spacers accentuate the dimension of the paper and display the print like an object hanging in a case. The print is centrally float-mounted (you can see the edges) on archival white mat board. Our default measurement spacing leaves 3/8" mat board visible between the edge of the frame and the edge of the print. (Although we can also make adjustments to the width.) Clear spacers are hidden behind the lip of the frame to keep the print below from touching the glass.
FRAME STYLE: TRADITIONALLY MATTED
This is a more traditional style of framing. The print is mounted inside a mat window that is slightly larger, allowing you to see the edges of the paper. We usually put a 1 1/2" to 2" mat around the print, and leave 1/4" between the edge of the print and the mat. The higher cost of frames for matted artworks is because of the increase in size, and the additional piece of matboard.

MATTING
We stock Crescent #1610 White, #1613 Bright White, and #1541 Cream mat board for all mounting and matting. Crescent #1610 is a very natural white--it is slightly warm, and not bright. It is almost exactly the same hue as white Rives BFK or Arches 88 paper. Cresent #1613 is a brighter white for use with the Pale Pink Arturo paper of THE DEEP BLUE SEA prints.
MOUNTING
For smaller prints (GROUP A) we use rice tissue tape to mount. For larger prints (especially when shipping) we use archival linen tape.
GLAZING
We stock both regular glass and regular Plexiglass. All orders that require shipping will be framed with Plexiglas to ensure safe delivery. All of our mounting and matting methods are archival, and will last for decades, if not forever.
BACKING
We use Coroplast as a backer for all of our frames. It is extremely durable, will not dent or damage easily, and in the event it gets dirty, is super easy to clean. We do not provide dust covers, as they are flimsy and come undone easily. Instead, we use a Tyvek seal around the back of the frame (which is strong and completely archival and acid-free).
HARDWARE
All frames come wired and ready to hang & enjoy!
PACKAGING & SHIPPING
We can package work for shipping, and are able to ship to any destination in the U.S. or abroad. All framed prints are shipped with plexiglas instead of glass to ensure safe delivery. Rates for shipping frames vary, so please contact us for rates.
