OUR FRAMES:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We provide a framing service to the arts community. By operating from a private, appointment-only
space, bulk purchasing, and using assembly line production methods, we keep the typically high cost
of quality framing to a minimum. We provide several options for our customers, but stay within the
realm of gallery style, museum quality work.

All of our framestock is milled by Kestner Wood Products (kestnerwood.com) from local Pennsylvania
timber in large quantities. We chop and join all of the frames on site, then finish each frame
individually to ensure the highest quality.

OUR HARDWOOD FRAMES: Cherry, Hickory, Red Elm, Oak, Maple, Black Laquer, White Lacquer, and Walnut.
Frames above are in our Tall Profile option.

We are open to requests for new profiles, as we are continually expanding our inventory.
Below are the two profiles we currently carry:

MOUNTING AND MATTING:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All of our mounting and matting methods are archival, and will last for decades, if not forever.

We stock and offer an ongoing special on Crescent #1610 white, #1613 bright white, and #1541 cream
mat board for all mounting and matting. We will order other colors for large orders, but charge a
higher price because the scrap is less useful for other frame orders.

Crescent #1610 is a very natural white. It is almost exactly the same as white Rives BFK or Arches
88 printmaking paper. It is slightly warm, and not at all bright. It goes with almost everything.

We typically use acid-free/archival corners or a rice paper, transparent hinging tissue for mounting
works. Heavy objects and canvases must be mounted on an individual basis.

GLAZING:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We offer and stock both regular glass and regular plexiglass. We are able to procure UV plexiglass
as well as various types of conservation and museum glass. We will meet requests for specialty glass
for large orders only, unless we happen to have some stocked.

HARDWARE AND BACKING:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We use Coroplast as a backer for all of our frames. It is extremely durable, will not dent or damage
easily, and in the event it gets dirty, is easy to clean.

We do not provide dust covers, as they are flimsy and come undone easily. Instead, we offer a Tyvek
seal around the back of the frame. We charge a modest price for this optional service, simply to
cover the cost of the tape (which is strong and completely archival and acid-free). It is not a
standard service simply because not everyone needs it, and it is fairly permanent.

All pieces come wired and ready to hang.

WORKS NOT ON PAPER:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are able to manage almost all of your art presentation needs. If you have stretched canvas or
panel paintings you would like framed or lined, please email for a quote. We will also stretch and
prime canvas to suit your needs.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSCIOUSNESS:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are very conscious of our environmental impact in all that we do.

Most commercially available framestock is made overseas and mass-marketed to the west. Often, non-
local lumber species are grown on land that used to be rainforest (upsetting the natural ecosystem
and encouraging the clear-cutting of rainforests). This wood is then finished in places that have
little or no labor laws governing their work force.

The wood we use is all grown in the western Pennsylvania area, has never been shipped anywhere, and
is local to its habitat.

We encourage our clientele to stick with our standard materials--dramatically reducing the waste
created by half-used pieces of mat board being thrown away (we save it all and reuse every bit!)
Smaller pieces of mat board find new roles as drawing paper, ink cards for our printshop, slip-sheets
for cutting materials on a nice surface, etc.

Some things, such as (plastic) Plexiglass and Coroplast, we accept because the durability and longevity
of these materials outweighs the negative impact of their production.
