Photo above shows the carved key block that will be printed in the center of the "GARDEN" print. "GARDEN" will be a full color woodblock print, 18" tall by 24" wide. Color will be lush & lively, as it is in our "FOREST." The printed image will extend beyond the twig fence of the garden to fill the white space (see image on paper below) in a colorful ring of plantlife, grasses & watchful creatures. The treatment of this outer ring of colorful fauna will be similar to the color layering in our "ISLAND" or "RV" prints (though the colors will vary). The entire "GARDEN" image will be printed from 5 hand-drawn, hand-carved wood blocks. A 1" paper border will be left around the printed image.

"GARDEN" imagines a carefully manicured, thriving plot ripe with tumbling vines, blossoms, and tucked away vegetables. Leaves dance in patterns across the path of sawn log rounds. A tied twig fence encircles the jolly mini farm, providing a folky, hand-made barrier between the tended and the wild beyond.

(ABOVE) Key block (as seen in the carvings above) has been printed on an 18" x 24" sheet of paper to give an idea of the final print size. The final "GARDEN" image will extend in color beyond the key block image above, leaving a 1" white border around the pirnt but filling the white space with colorful patterns in a ring of wild plants and onlooking animals!
